STOP dictatorship in Central Asia: what Turkmen activists asked Berlin for

Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in Berlin on September 29, 2023 to participate in the summit of the heads of state of the Central Asian countries and Germany. Among the summit participants were also German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Upon the arrival of the former President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, under the walls of the Bellevue Palace, where the meeting of the heads of Central Asian countries was held, from 8:00 am to 13:00 pm, Turkmen opposition activists staged a rally in support of political prisoners of Turkmenistan and other countries with harsh dictatorships . Oppositionists called on European politicians to stop collaborating with the dictators of Central Asia, who are closely associated with Russia and its bloody Putin regime. After all, as you know, it is Russia that is now under sanctions from Europe and the United States due to the unleashed war against Ukraine. And Germany, in turn, is interested in alternative supplies of goods and establishing trade and economic relations with additional countries, including Central Asia.
In addition, the protesters at the protest were outraged by the constant violations of human rights in Turkmenistan, the lack of freedom of speech, freedom of choice and demanded to stop the persecution of opposition activists, as well as to release political prisoners Farhad Meymankuliev, Mansur Mengelov and others.

Let us recall that on the eve of September 25 and 26, 2023, a series of rallies of Turkmen oppositionists against Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as in support of political prisoners and the peoples of Central Asia, also took place in New York. As a result, none of the representatives of the UN headquarters came to the protesters.
