Turkmenistan’s trade turnover with China in 2021 reached $7.4 billion. (data from the Chinese side (https://telegra.ph/Opublikovany-dannye-po-tovarooborotu-mezhdu-Turkmenistanom-i-Kitaem-01-06). This is a mono export of natural gas from the country through pipelines — $6.2 billion. To this, add another $0.5 billion of fuel and lubricants exports.
All other exports, as well as imports from China ($0.5 billion), are scanty.
It is not even surprising that Turkmenistan has become a gas lighter for China. Amazingly, the country has not found anything interesting for itself in the vast Chinese market. And this has been going on for years.
There is no other data on the Turkmen’s economy and business to understand that they are in deep stagnation.
