According to information from associates of Farhad Meymankuliev (an activist blogger), Farhad’s lawyers are making every effort to release him. Also, the same source reports that Farhad Meymankuliev’s lawyers met with the newly appointed Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Ali Yerlikay, who was asked questions about the illegal detention of Farhad Meymankuliev. To which the minister promised to investigate and inform in the near future about the results of the proceedings. As Farhad’s lawyers previously reported, the last entrance registration of Farhad Meymankuliev was made at the Istanbul police station on May 23 in the 16H45 area. All previously submitted applications by lawyers are currently being considered by the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Justice. As you know, in connection with the new presidential elections in Turkey, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made decisions to change the composition of the new Government. Approximately 15 new ministers were appointed to the ranks of the new Government. These new appointments included the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Attorney General. In the near future, the newly appointed Minister of Internal Affairs is expected to respond to the submitted application by lawyers regarding the violation of the rights and illegal detention of Farhad Meymankuliyev.
